An Evening with Ken Burns

Cobb Great Hall, Wharton Center - Directions

Time of Event: 8:00 p.m.

Price: $20.00 (Free for MSU faculty and students with corresponding valid MSU ID.)

Emmy Award winning documentary filmmaker Ken Burns will be the featured speaker of the College of Arts and Letters Signature Lecture Series at 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 2, 2009 in the Cobb Great Hall at MSU's Wharton Center. Burns will be appearing at MSU shortly after the release of his latest film, The National Parks: America's Best Idea, a six-episode series to be aired on PBS beginning September 27. Burns has made films for more than 30 years, and since his Academy Award nominated Brooklyn Bridge in 1981, went on to direct, research, write, film, edit, act in, and produce nearly 20 historical documentaries. Tickets for the Ken Burns Signature Lecture will be available through the Wharton Center box office beginning October 5. MSU faculty and currently enrolled MSU students will be able to pick up 2 free tickets for the event with their corresponding ID card.

Rent, the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical by Jonathan Larson, examines diverse denizens of Lower East Side Manhattan as they struggle to make the rent, find love, and cope with HIV. This iconic musical has become a modern day classic with its compelling score and tragically human characters.
